Description Rickettsia transmitted by ticks
Cause Fever from bite by an infected tick
Symptoms Sudden onset of fever, severe headache, muscle pain, red rash three to six days after onset of symptoms that spreads to the palms of hands and soles of feet and then to the rest of the body.
Treatment Seek medical attention from a physician
Prevention Avoid tick-infested habitats during spring and early summer.
Use personal protection, such as wearing pants and shirts with long sleeves.
